If it’s time to shave your beard, these beard styles will make the loss more bearable.
It happens sometimes; you’ve been growing your beard but now it is time to shave it off. Maybe you are going to BYU, your wife scheduled family pictures, or you’re going to be the best man at your buddy’s wedding. Whatever the reason, rather than lose your beard all at once, you can take it down by degrees with these beard styles. You can gradually transition to a clean shaven look over a few days and these 5 beard styles will make grooming down your facial hair fun and exciting.
Don’t you just hate it when you shave your beard off and everyone has to point it out? “I know I shaved, you don’t have to rub it in.” I sing in a choir and twice a year I have to be clean shaven for performances. I often go through this exercise and it isn’t too fun.
For my concert coming next month, I tried a new trimmer and detailer. I used the Remington Beard Boss Perfecter to get these styles. You can pick one up at almost any Walmart or have them send it to your house with free shipping.
Beard Style #1: Full Beard
The Full Beard is the Classic style beard. It is pretty easy to maintain, you just might need to clean up your cheeks and neckline a bit. If your beard grows slower, you might want to start growing the full beard on vacation or at week long scout camp so when you return you will have a good starting base.
Beard Style #2: Extended Goatee
The first beard style I transitioned to was the Extended Goatee. It is a combination of the mustache and the goatee, but the goatee goes back along the jawline. It is a little like the Full Beard, but with the sideburns removed.
Beard Style #3: Circle Beard
If a Full Beard is too gruff, the Circle Beard is a great half way point. The Circle Beard gets its name from the shape it creates with only the mustache and goatee meeting.
Beard Style #4: Balbo Beard
This Beard was a lot of fun. It is the style you see Robert Downey Jr. sporting in the Iron Man movies. I got lots of high fives around the office and one co-worker told me I looked like an evil villain. I think she meant it as a compliment.
The Balbo takes a steady hand. It keeps the mustache and the lover beard separate and the chin is shorn around the sides. It almost looks like an upside down “T”.
Beard Style #5 Van Dyke
The final style I went with before going clean shaven was the Van Dyke. The main elements to this style is defining the mustache and reducing the size of the small goatee on the chin. The hard part about this style is getting the point at the bottom of the chin.
Shaving Can Be a Pain
One of the reasons I typically go with a beard is that I just don’t enjoy shaving. I am really liking using The Perfecter: Beard Boss Stubble and Detail Kit by Remington. I never had to charge it the whole time I have been cutting and trimming. Even though I’ll have to give up the beard, I can always use The Perfecter to clean up my stubble and buy myself a few days before going to the razor.
